The Roccaccia was built in 1080 AD as a watchtower to defend the Marca Fermana.
Situated in an enchanting setting between Monte Sibilla, the Gola dell'Infernaccio and the medieval village of Montefortino, it stands on a spur of rock from which it dominates the surrounding valley.
Today La Roccaccia is a jewel set in the centre of the Monti Sibillini National Park, designed for those in search of peace, relaxation and meditation.
The park that branches off around the structure is enriched with artistic creations inspired by Land Art, and inside there is a private amphitheatre where you can enjoy unique sunsets.
La Roccaccia is divided into two flats: L'Infernaccio, located on the ground floor and able to accommodate 2+2 guests, and La Sibilla, located on the first floor, where 5 guests can stay.
The entire structure has a maximum capacity of 9 guests.
In the vicinity of Montefortino there are numerous architectural and natural sites to discover, first and foremost the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Ambro, an ancient Marian place of worship among the most important in the Marche Region.
Many paths that lose themselves among the gentle peaks of the Monti Sibillini National Park start in places near Roccaccia.
One of the treks that we highly recommend for its charm and beauty is that of the Gole dell'Infernaccio; the starting point of the trail is about 3 km from the facility.
The Gole dell'Infernaccio are natural gorges carved out over hundreds of thousands of years by the Tenna River between Mount Priora and Mount Sibilla.
A pleasant walk, accessible also to children, takes about an hour to reach the hermitage of San Leonardo.
You will be surrounded by landscapes of indescribable beauty, lands rich in history and charm, La Roccaccia will be one of those places that the mere thought of will evoke in you a happy memory.
